Try a non-sensitive sample
Download the three-page sample PDF and its reference mapping CSV. The sample contains synthetic exhibit and appendix references, one internal bookmark, and one pre-existing link that should be skipped. No customer document is included.
Prepare the PDF
- Use one unsigned, unencrypted PDF with selectable text.
- Keep it at or below 50 MiB and 500 pages.
- Scanned or image-only PDFs need OCR in another tool before matching.
- A reference label must appear on one visual line. Wrapped or hyphenated phrases are not joined.
- Keep a safe copy of the original. The extension downloads a new file and does not overwrite it.
Resource limits and cancellation
Each page is limited to 1,000,000 extracted UTF-16 characters, 14,400 PDF points per side and 36,000,000 square points. The scan-wide work budget is 50,000,000 character-by-mapping comparisons. Dense PDFs or large mapping sets can reach this budget before the file/page ceilings. Over-budget scans stop without a partial export; reduce labels or split the PDF elsewhere and scan again. Oversized or unsupported pages are reported for your review.
Opening, scanning and PDF export can be cancelled. Export runs in a separate local worker with a 60-second deadline. Cancellation, changing the document/mappings/selection, or closing the extension terminates export and prevents stale or partial downloads. A failed replacement PDF leaves your existing document and mappings available.
Prepare the mapping
Enter mappings manually, import internal PDF bookmarks, or use a UTF-8 CSV whose first row contains label,target_page. Each target page is the physical PDF position starting at 1, between 1 and the PDF page count, even when printed page numbers differ. Labels are trimmed, must not be empty, and duplicate labels should be resolved before scanning. Version 1 supports up to 500 mappings.
Example: Appendix B,42. CSV quoting may be used when a label contains a comma. Choose case-sensitive matching only when capitalization must distinguish references.
If a match is missing or unwanted
- Confirm the words can be selected and copied in the PDF viewer.
- Check spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and the case-sensitivity setting.
- Confirm the full label sits on one visual line.
- Review the highlighted source page and target page before export.
- Deselect headings, tables of contents, or other results that should remain plain text.
The scan stops at 10,000 matches. Narrow the mapping or split the production job if the limit is reached.
License and export
The full preview and CSV match report work without a paid license. Linked-PDF export requires Pro and an online license check each time. Buy Pro for EUR 49 once, tax included, then paste the license key emailed after purchase into the extension. A license supports three active browser installations. If export is unavailable, connect to the internet, refresh the license, and re-enter the emailed key if requested.
Refund requests may be sent within 14 days of purchase from the purchase email address with the order reference. A full refund deactivates paid export. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
What to include in a support request
Include the extension version, Chrome version, operating system, page count, approximate file size, mapping count, selected case setting, match count, and exact error shown. For purchase help, include the purchase email and order reference.
Do not send confidential PDFs, extracted text, filenames, mappings, full license keys, or card details. Reproduce the issue with a non-sensitive sample where possible.
